Anjali eyeing mass films in Tamil cinema

The Telugu girl Anjali, born and brought up in Chennai is one of the finest young actors in Tamil cinema.

She is an actress of substance as proved by films like Katradhu Thamizh, Rettai Suzhi and the crowning glory Angadi Theru.

However now she is searching to be accepted as a mass heroine by doing big commercial films.

In an interview to a newspaper Anjali said: "Yes in 2011, I' plan to choose projects which are commercially viable at the box-office."

Anjali understands that Tamil cinema will recognise only heroines who do mass films with popular heroes like a Vijay or Ajith. Those seen doing "good cinema" with "realistic directors" never get a call from top commercial directors who want heroines to remain just "eye candy" and songs in exotic foreign locations.

However the actress is said to be fantastic in debutant director Gaurav's Thoonga Nagaram, in which she plays "a platform artist working for a local channel" in Madurai.

She is paired opposite Vimal in the film which has hit music by Sundar C Babu.

The hit melody song Koorana Paravaigal sung by Hariharan and Chinmayi has been picturised on Anjali and Vimal. Though the song has been shot in Malaysia, it will look like Madurai.

Interestingly Anjali is doing her first mass movie Venkat Prabhu directed Ajith's Mankatha in which she is paired opposite Vaibhav. Let us hope, Anjali shines among a galaxy of glam girls like Trisha, Sneha and Lakshmi Rai!
