2011, summer season in Kollywood started on April 8, with the release of Dhanush-Hansika mass masala Mappillai, a day later Prashanth's period drama Ponnar Shankar made it to the theatres. As of now for the

first time ever there are no biggies slated for April 14, traditionally celebrated as Tamil New Year earlier.
