Director Gautham Menon, who launched his own production house by the name Photon Kathaas last year, is all set to release his first film as producer in ‘Nadunisi Naaygal’ and is gearing up to release another film titled ‘Veppam’, directed by Anjanaa, one of his former aides.
In a couple of major decisions he took last year, he said he wouldn’t be directing Ajith in future and then replaced Trisha with Amy Jackson as heroine for the Hindi remake of his ‘Vinnai Thaandi Varuvaaya’. In ‘Veppam’, he cast Karthick Kumar (who debuted as hero in PC Sriram’s ‘Vaanam Vasappadum’ an year ago) as one of the heroes.
Karthick Kumar, who played a pivotal role in Dhanush’s ‘Yaaradi Nee Mohini’, was also to play the lead role in Menon’s next film, which was a bilingual in Tamil and Telugu. However, Menon was told by some of his ‘assistant directors’ that Karthick’s market in both Tamil and Telugu wasn’t much to write about.
Ram Charan, the latest Tollywood sensation, was drafted in as the hero in Karthick’s place to play the hero in the bilingual film. Gautham is likely to first complete this bilingual project before moving ahead to Bollywood to start the remake of VTV by end-March. Manoj Paramhamsa, Menon’s favourite cinematographer, rejoins Menon in this film, it was told.
