Sana Khan, who debuted in Simbu’s masala-flick ‘Silambattam’ more than an year ago and followed it up with a Bharath-starrer last year, is known as a ‘glamourous’ actress. Her (s)explosive costumes and dancing prowess in Simbu’s ‘Silambattam’ won her many fans and admirers but slotted her in the role of a ‘sexy actress’ instead of the slot of an ‘actress with substance’.
Prakashraj’s upcoming home production ‘Payanam’, though, would show the sexy Sanaa in an entirely new ‘avatar’, if reports are any indication to go by. Starring Prakashraj and Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna in lead roles, the film also marks the return to Kollywood for Nagarjuna, who was last seen in a Tamil film more than 20 years ago.
Directed by Radhamohan of ‘Mozhi’ and ‘Abhiyum Naanum’ fame, ‘Payanam’ is the first attempt by the director in the world of action films. The film is based on an aircraft hijack incident, reminiscent of the Kandahar hijack case which made headlines almost a decade ago.
Sanaa appears sans make-up in the film in a ‘natural’ role. She believes her role in the film has come out ‘really nice’ and that it’s a film which would alter the image of her in the minds of the public as a mere sexy actress. She’s also extremely happy that she got to share on-screen space with her childhood hero Nagarjuna.
She’s aware that the gap between the releases of her films is ‘too much’ and says she would try to ‘set it in order’. She says that tips from Prakash, Nagarjuna and Radhamohan helped her a lot in ‘adjusting’ to the needs of the character she has played in the film.
‘Glamour is an integral part of my persona and wouldn’t shun it. At the same time, I’m extremely proud of my role in Payanam,” says the smiling Khan.
