Ramya Nambeesan, who debuted as heroine in the Cheran-starrer ‘Raman Thediya Seethai’ in the year 2009, had starred in the recent ‘Ilaignan’ opposite lyricist Paa Vijay. Ramya, who had earlier done sundry roles in Malayalam films, got the big break as heroine in ‘Raman…’ but unfortunately for her the film didn’t do well and she was put on ‘hold’ by the industry.
Though she had done admirably well in ‘Ilaignan’, even the moderate success of the film hasn’t made her busy with new film offers in Tamil. The young girl, not the one to lose heart so soon, is still optimistic of making it big in Kollywood and oozes loads of confidence.
Could it be the fact that Ramya’s ‘homely’ look won’t be tempting as much as the seducing looks of her contemporaries like Anoushka, Asin, Nayantara, Trisha, Tamannaah and Hansika? The question was put to her recently by a scribe and instead of showing any negative reaction to the question, the cool Ramya replied in a composed manner.
“Going glamour isn’t a difficult thing for me or for anyone else; I’m just awaiting my turn to do so. Glamour alone can’t keep an actress on top for many years: at the most, it can make her the talk of the industry for 2-3 years. Ultimately, talent is what counts and helps one reach the top and sustain her position there.
“Even after I go glamourous, I can’t be here forever; some other actress would come to take my place. Isn’t it what life is made up of?” Undoubtedly, the scribe was stumped by Ramya’s philosophical reply.
