The beautiful Nakshatra, who would be debuting as heroine in Tamil films opposite Kumaran (remember him in ‘Thairiyam’?) in ‘Varusanadu’, happens to be the youngest daughter of yesteryear’s actress Sumitra, who had acted opposite legends like Kamal Hasan, Rajnikanth and Sivakumar in the late seventies and eighties.
Sumitra’s first daughter Uma has acted as heroine in several films but couldn’t make it big as heroine as she got mainly the ‘sister’ roles. Nakshatra is the younger sibling of the ‘homely’ Uma, who is now married and settled in Bangalore.
Kumaran also produces the film ‘Varusanadu’ which is said to be an ‘action’ thriller. Nakshatra has also reportedly signed up another project in Tamil titled ‘Marudhaelu’ opposite Kailash, a known face in Malayalam films. However, Naksthatra’s role in ‘Marudhavelu’ would only be that of the second heroine.
Nakshatra, who has a smile capable of flooring any youth, says that unlike her elder sister, she is not averse to ‘exposing’ in films provided that the script and the banner demands so. “Exposing shouldn’t border on vulgarity; I’ll try and ensure it at any cost,” says Nakshatra.
