Actor Aadhi had the most unconventional debut for a hero in recent times. Much like Karthi’s debut in ‘Paruthiveeran’ as a rugged villager, Aadhi debuted in director Sami’s ‘Mirugam’ more than three years as a liquor-addict who would torture his wife (Padmapriya) to no end. The film had Aadhi appearing in a long beard and speaking in an uncultured manner.
Director Shankar’s thriller film ‘Eeram’, directed by first-timer Arivazhagan, released in the last quarter of 2009 and depicted Aadhi as he usually is: in the role of a handsome cop. The film’s success was a welcome boon for Aadhi, who badly wanted a hit film in his ‘normal appearance’.
Aadhi followed up the success of ‘Eeram’ with last year’s ‘Ayyanar’, which didn’t do any wonders for him at the box-office. His latest offering in ‘Aadupuli’ opposite Poorna (with whom he is said to be ‘going steady’), though, appears to be doing reasonably well at the box-office.
Crediting director Vijay Prakash for the script, Aadhi says that he had a good time during the making of the film. While shooting for the film, he even accompanied his mother to all the temples in Kumbakonam on her pilgrimage, he reveals and adds that the success of ‘Aadupuli’ could be due to the divine help.
The promising actor is now working overtime for director Vasanthabalan’s ‘Aravaan’.
