By the end of the series of movies, CIFF sure did become popular among the Chennaiites as there were too many of them flooding in front of woodlands this afternoon, ready to witness the closing ceremony, most of them expecting to bump into at least one celebrity.

Popular Melodies by Srinivas and Swetha were a great treat for all and the balcony audience couldn’t get tired to stop whistling and clapping hands at their loudest best for their favourite songs. Actress Rohini’s narration clubbed with their singing was almost the best part of the event.

The film ‘Angadi Theru’ received the best feature film award which was no surprise at all. It was most definitely one of the greatest films of the year. ‘Kalavani’ seconded the list by receiving the second best feature film award. This of course was a surprise to many as ‘Nandalala’ seemed to be very close and potential competition.

MP Napoleon came as a special guest to this event and gave away a couple of awards. Another important and unexpected guest seen was Aparna Sen, the popular director, script writer and actress from the north who has won herself three national awards.

On a closing oath of making the 9th Chennai International film festival a bigger success, the film ‘Biutiful’, which indeed is a beautiful film, was screened for the delegates.
