Vaibhav & Dhruva: the new kids on the block

Despite a new hero getting introduced every Friday, Kollywood appears to be in perennial need of a ‘promising and young hero’. While there is scope for anyone and everyone to prove their mettle, very few heroes sustain the initial momentum to go ahead and make it big in the industry.

Smart-looking Dhruva, who played a ‘blink-and-miss’ role in director Bala’s award-winning ‘Naan Kadavul’ a few years back, is debuting as full-time hero in the upcoming film ‘Aanmai Thavarael’. Dhruva, who played one of the many flesh-eating Agoris in the film, had many dialogues to his credit in the film, which were chopped off in the final version to reduce the length of the film.

Vaibhav, the hero of the film ‘Eesan’, is a chemical engineer by profession and openly admits that he was never regular to his classes. His pastime was to bunk the classes and go to theatres to watch films. Whenever he comes across a good character in the film(s) he used to watch, Anubhav would lament to his friends that ‘he would have done put in an equally good if not more appreciable performance in the film’.

Dhruva definitely cherishes his ‘Naan Kadavul’ experience as it’s a Bala film. He plays a solo hero in ‘Aanmai…’ as an youth employed in BPO. “I don’t play the usual hero. It’s a role which caters to the need of the actor inside me. I’m sure womenfolk would love the film in a big way. The film is against the many kinds of violence perpetrated against them about which we come across on a regular basis in the print and television media,” says Dhruv.
