Karuthakannan loses in Pongal race

Karuthakannan c/o Rekla Race which was due for release on Pongal day could not make it as it was denied a censor certificate.

The censors refused to give a certificate to the film, without getting a clearance from the Animal Welfare Board (AWB).

The film set in a rural milieu is all about bullock cart racing and features hundreds of bullocks. It is compulsory for all producers to get AWB permission before using animals in films.

Karuthakannan c/o Rekla Race has Rishi Raj, Subash and Soundarya in the lead and is directed by Senthil Anandan.

Now the producers will have to show the film to AWB, and convince them that the bullocks were not ill-treated during the making of the film.

Once they OK it, censors will issue the certificate.
