Last week, Suhasini released the audio of director Gautham Menon’s ‘production venture Veppam’. It was her remarks made at the event that appear to have stirred up a hornet’s nest.
She has always wondered as to how it is that while films having Madurai as the backdrop turn out to be successful at the box-office whereas films having Tirunelveli and other places don’t turn out to be half as successful as the ones cited earlier. The audio-launch appears to have offered her the best chance to pour her feelings out.
She had once said in her weekly review of Tamil films for a popular channel that the Tamil audience (read: film fans) hardly know as to what made a good film and vice versa. Suhasini was asked to release the audio as the film had been directed by another lady named Anjana.
Suhasini’s controversial remark during her speech was that “After Maniratnam (her husband), it was only Gautham Vasudev Menon who brings to the screen in a practical manner the city life and the surroundings.”
