Actress Abinaya Sri has turned entrepreneur. It’s not her business acumen that has gotten her into the garments business; it’s the plain fact that she has fallen out of favour with producers and directors. In order to sustain herself, she has directed her attention towards textile business.

Daughter of Anuradha, yesteryear’s popular ‘item girl’, Abinaya Sree tried her best to follow in the footsteps of her mother and shine in Kollywood. As it turned out, she could neither land up offers to act as heroine nor were many ‘item girl’ roles coming her way. In the past decade or so, she acted in several films doing sundry roles but couldn’t establish herself in the industry.

Not the one to concede her failure, Abinaya says that “I have had enough of acting in films. In order to learn the nuances of the art of film-making, I even studied editing, graphics technique and sound-effects. My present ambition is to bring up a recording theatre of my own. Recently, I have acquired the license to sell the ready-made garments produced by a leading textile company.

“Very soon, I’d be opening a show-room at a famous shopping Mall on the arterial Anna Salai. After a few months, its branches would be opened in other parts of the city and elsewhere,” informs Abinaya Sri.
