More than 100 members of 'Nadar Peravai', a caste-based outfit, were arrested when they tried to picket the residence of popular actor Karthi, in the city.
Police said they were objecting to the actor playing the role of ''rocket Raja'' in his forthcoming film ''Siruthai''.
The members claimed that it was the name of a leader of a caste-based outfit and using his name in the film was aimed at defaming his image.
The members assembled in front of the Karthi's house at T Nagar are in the city, and demanded that the title be dropped.
They also carried placards and shouted slogans against Karthi and threatened to stall the screening of the film if their demand was not met.
Police arrested all the 100 members.
Police protection was given to Karthi's residence.
The movie, directed by Shiva, is a remake of Telugu film ''Vikramarkudu''. Karthi played a dual role in the film.
