83rd Academy Awards: The King's Speech tops all

Academy Awards - 83rd - 27 x 40 Movie Posters - Best Supporting Actor Poster Pack: (5)The 83rd Academy Awards announced yesterday honoured the best in American cinema for 2010. Hosting the Awards ceremony, actors James Franco and Anne Hathaway revealed the final winners of the grand awards. 


The King's Speech, the period film on English King George VI, was the star of the night after it won awards under the Best Picture, Best direction, Best lead actor and Best screenplay categories. Natalie Portman took home the award for the Best actress for her performance as a ballerina in Black Swan. The semi-biographical movie on the birth of Facebook, The Social Network, won three awards under the Best adapted screenplay, Best original score and film editing categories. Danny Boyle-A.R. Rahman fans were disappointed after 127 Hours failed to make any wins at the awards.

Christopher Nolan's mind-boggling science fiction Inception reiterated its strengths with winning the Best cinematography, visual effects, sound mixing and editing awards. Computer animated adaptation of Lewis Carroll's classic, Alice in Wonderland won awards for costume design and art direction, while Toy Story 3 grabbed the best animated flick award. Danish movie In A Better World won the foreign language movie award. The detailed list of awards are as follows:

Best Costume Design: Colleen Atwood (Alice in Wonderland)

Best Documentary (Feature): Inside Job

Best Documentary (Short Subject): Strangers No More

Best Film Editing: Angus Wall, Kirk Baxter (The Social Network)

Best Makeup: Rick Baker and Dave Elsey (The Wolfman)

Best Music (Original Score): Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross (The Social Network)

Best Music (Original Song): 'We Belong Together' (Toy Story 3)

Best Short Film (Animated): The Lost Thing

Best Short Film (Live Action): God of Love

Best Sound Editing: Richard King (Inception)
