Finally, there is some good news on the horizon for Ajith’s fans. The fans have been eagerly awaiting the release of Ajith's landmark 50th film ‘Mankatha’ which would be the star’s first film in more than an year now. The script of the film, directed by Venkatprabhu, is said to deal with the betting mafia which goes into busy mode whenever Indian cricket team is in action.
The good news is that the audio-launch of the film has been scheduled to be held on 10th August. The film reportedly faced some ‘release blues’ as the producer was Dayanidhi Azhagiri, son of Union Minister and DMK strongman Azhagiri. In the erstwhile regime in the State, films produced under the banner of Sun Pictures, Udhayanidhi’s Red Giant Movies and Dayanidhi’s Clould Nine Movies could get theatres to release their films almost as per their will.
In the changed scenario, though, things aren’t looking rosy for them. It was feared that Ajith’s film might not be able to get the desired theatres for its release. Some critics in the industry even hinted that unless Ajith met Amma personally, the tangle won’t be solved. Ajith wasn’t willing to do so as it would have meant meeting Amma only when he wanted some help.
Ajith has plenty of co-stars in the film including ‘action king’ Arjun, Trisha, Lakshmi Rai, Anjali, Andrea Jermaiah and Bollywood’s Kainaat Arora. The film has peppy and enterprising music by Yuvan Shankar Raja. Some songs, leaked on the net, have already become popular. The audio-launch would be followed by the film’s theatrical release probably in the last week of August, it is learnt.
