After the stupendous success of Pazhassi Raja, followed by a couple of Malayalam films including Christian Brothers, Tamil hero Sarathkumar is doing his first solo Malayalam film Metro, which is set to release this Friday.
Talking about his role in Metro, an edge-of-the-seat thriller set in Kochi, the actor said in an interview: "I play an upright cop who stands up for the common man. I have played a cop in many Tamil films but what makes Circle Inspector Jacob Alexander different is that he does not have a romantic interest, nor does he deliver punch dialogues. It is the most realistic mature cop that I've ever played. The film revolves around three different stories that converge in the climax. Metro tells the parallel stories of the cop, a group of youngsters out on a fun trip and a gangster who controls Kochi."
Having done a couple of Malayalam films so far, Sarathkumar is all praise of Malayalam directors, saying: "In my opinion, Malayalam directors, with limited budgets, make some of the finest films in India." Asked whether he would continue doing Malayalam films, the actor said that as long as he is offered interesting films, he would continue to do Malayalam films.
