A group of men belonging to the Hindu Makkal Katchi (HMK), on Sunday (Feb 27) took out a rally along with street dogs to the house of director Gautham Menon in Taramani in Chennai!
They were protesting against his new film Nadunisi Naaygal, as it had portrayed “the hero and his foster mother in bad light”.
However the protesters around 20 people were arrested by the police before they could reach Gautham’s house.
HMK’s Secretary Kannan who demanded that the objectionable scenes be deleted said: “In Hindu Puranas foster mothers enjoyed pride of place like Krishna nursed a lot of affection for his foster mother Yasoda, and so did Rama for Kaikeyi. Hence Gautham Menon should remove these objectionable scenes from his film.”
Gautham Menon in his defence said: “NN has been given ‘A’ certificateby the censors. The film was based on a true story in which hero a mentally affected person could not differentiate between right and wrong. I did not make the film to hurt anybody’s feeling.”
