That ‘action king’ Arjun is playing a significant role in actor Ajit’s upcoming landmark 50th film ‘Mankatha’ is a known fact. What’s unknown, though, is that the action star would be pairing up opposite singer-actress Andrea Jeremiah. The news of them pairing up comes soon after reports that director Selvaa had ‘axed’ Andrea as the heroine in his ‘Irandaam Ulagam’ and replaced her with Richa Gangopadhyaya.
Incidentally, the song ‘Idhuvarai….’ sung by Andrea for Piaa Bajpai in ‘Goa’, Venkatprabhu’s last film, which proved to be the most-liked song in the film. Though it was rumoured earlier that Andrea had been roped in by Prabhu, the former had been refusing them. It is strongly rumoured that she almost ‘demanded’ the role from Prabhu (in a friendly manner, though) after the bitter experience with Selvaa’s ‘Irandaam Ulagam’.
After debuting opposite Sarath Kumar in Gautham Menon’s ‘Pachchaikili Muthucharam’, Andrea starred in Selvaa’s ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’ and hasn’t been spotted that frequently in Kollywod. The talented star is said to be camping in Hyderabad these days to try and force her way into the world of ‘Telugu films’.
In ‘Mankatha’, whose story reportedly deals with the ‘betting menace’ in sport (read cricket), Ajit’s character is named as Vinayak Mahadevan. The role would, from time to time, expose some negative traits thus making it an exciting role. Actress Trisha plays Sanjana, who’s the daughter of a local goon (played by Jayaprakash), living in Dharavi, one of the most dreaded slums in this part of Mumbai.
Arjun and Andrea would have no duet(s) in the film, which has Arjun playing the role on investigative officer. It is said that Andrea’s role won’t be a major one as she has been signed up for 15 days by which the shooting is expected to be wrapped up!
